Role

• Lead the sales of company funds in London and the South-East, primarily focussing on the discretionary, fund of funds and institutional sectors. This is not an advisory role.

Responsibilities

Sales:
• Achieve personal and team sales targets
• Ensure necessary focus on key client accounts
• Identify and target opportunities to sell company funds, including but not limited to:
o discretionary fund managers
o fund of funds managers
o financial institutions
o family offices
• Clearly articulate the key benefits and considerations for potential clients and intermediaries, accurately evaluating whether our services are suitable for their requirements
• Ensure sales material and communication during presentations is clear and not misleading, technically accurate and meets the specific need
• Actively differentiate our business from competitors, identifying opportunities for new initiatives
• Ensure close interaction with other members of the sales team with a view to sharing best practice.

Strategic Planning:
• Take overall ownership of the sales activity for London and the South-East Region and ensure that plans are in place to actively target identified sectors
• Understand and be able to evaluate different types of client and design appropriate business development activity tailored according to their specific needs
• Articulate the key benefits and considerations of the Group’s proposition
• Contribute to both the creation and achievement of the divisional strategy, demonstrating how business should be conducted to achieve the desired goals

Client Relationship Management:
• Ensure all dealings with clients and intermediaries are conducted professionally and their requests are dealt with in a timely and effective manner ensuring that issues raised are followed up

Regulatory & Risk Management:
• Ensure that fair treatment of clients is at the forefront of all activities within the firm
• Ensure that all interactions with clients, regulators, auditors and other external entities are conducted in an open and transparent manner
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the regulatory framework

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the risks to clients within their operation and how these will be mitigated
• Ensure all material risks and issues are reported
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and application of the Group’s Conduct Risk Framework

Knowledge Management, Administration and Record Keeping:
• Manage records and data appropriately in line with Group policy
• Aware of and proficient in the use of research services and resources available
• Operate in accordance with the division’s policies and procedures manuals
• Oversee the keeping of comprehensive client records and ensures that these are accurate and up to date at all times

Person specification

• Extensive experience of working within an investment/asset management environment, developing new business from the discretionary, fund of funds and institutional sectors
• Demonstrable track record of identifying, developing and growing client relationships, including leading pitches and winning new business.
• Demonstrable understanding of the financial services industry and investment markets with a good knowledge of key industry trends and best practice within the funds sector
• Demonstrable knowledge of financial products and funds
• Experience of operating within an FSA regulatory framework, with a working knowledge and understanding of current legislation and future regulatory developments
• Experience of operating within a risk management framework together with a thorough understanding of the risks and threats pertaining to a private client and funds business
• Exposure to decision making and strategic planning at a senior level
